Right Now

When I started Ups, Downs, Ins & Outs (years and years, and years ago) I didn’t have any defined goal about what I was going to do with the page: what I would talk about, who I was trying to reach, or even how I intended to reach them. I didn’t sit down and build a plan, or set down in black and white where and how I would work with the blog.

Over the years I’ve posted at random – frequent, infrequent. I’ve posted reading lists, rants (and raves) about things I’ve seen/read online, book/movie/TV show reviews, and more. I’ve run contests, done interviews, hosted guest bloggers, run events.

Some things have been popular, some haven’t.

Some things have gone well, some haven’t.

I’ve worked with promotion companies, privately with authors, and for my own pleasure.

I never set out to make money as a book blogger – though there isn’t a single one of us that wouldn’t love to make something, sometime, somehow.

For years, I reviewed books that I’d lovingly selected and bought from the book store, or as technology changed the e-books that I purchased online. In the last couple years, I’ve been lucky enough to receive some copies of e-books from authors or through promotion companies and I’ve reviewed those. (I will admit there have been 3 or 4 books in the last 3 years that after reading the books sent to me, I simply couldn’t review – though I’ll keep the reasons to myself.)

Being a book blogger has been a journey that I’ve enjoyed all these years, in all the various ways that I’ve done it. There have been good times and bad, good people and bad. I wouldn’t a change a moment.

This is not a goodbye. I’m not going anywhere.

I will still be reading and reviewing. I will still be talking about and sharing books I liked, or didn’t. I’ll still be fangirl-ing all about favorite authors and such. I’ll still be sharing music that I love, movies that me and my family watch, fanfiction that I read and enjoy. Princess will still be sharing some of the books that she particularly loves too.

But, life in the Corner Table House is changing once again and as with most changes in our lives it means that our schedules will change. Over the next several months (and more) my availability and, quite simply put, my energy will likely decrease for a while. My Facebook page will continue to have (near) daily updates and I encourage you to follow me there – I always link blog posts there so you’ll be assured you won’t miss anything. I’m also on Twitter, G+, and Instagram and would love to see you there as well. And you can always reach me by email… I will actually be setting up new email accounts for my blogs by the end of the month and will let everyone know about those ASAP.

For now it’s time for me to say good day.

Until next time…. Happy reading, writing, or whatever you may be doing!!

Summer Holiday's Are Over

Hey There Everybody!

It’s been a long summer… Okay, truth, some parts of the summer seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye, while other parts did seem to drag on. However, truly accurate descriptions of this summer would be – active, busy, fun.

July passed in a blink and was full to the brim, scratch that – overflowing with family activities, kid activities, friends, trips, and more. August, always an eventful month for the Corner Table Family, was also busy though I’m happy to say we were able to find a couple days here and there when we simply had nothing to do and could kick back and relax. But summer holidays are (as of tomorrow morning) officially over and we’re all going to be back to a regular schedule and able to focus on things, work or otherwise.

There will be a few feature changes on Ups, Downs, Ins & Outs – nothing major; a few simple changes in schedule or additions. Inside My Mind should see more regular postings – I’m hoping to start with weekly and then bump it up to twice weekly in a month or so. On both of these blogs I will also be trying to look for folks interested in doing guest posts.

A Corner Table in My World will also start to see more regular postings. Honestly I’m not sure what the final goal will be there besides simply more. There a lot of things that happen in our daily lives that I could talk and write about but I’ve always shied from simply regurgitating everything I do everyday. So I guess one goal will be to figure that shit out.

So that’s what I wanted to let you know today. If you take nothing else from this post make sure you catch this: Hi everyone, we’re back!!!

Busy, Busy, Busy

There are lots of things happening behind the scenes right now as I get back to work on everything from new feature development, to reviews and interviews, to layout and design. It's great and I think the end result (especially of the page changes) is going to be fabulous but right now it makes me busy, busy, busy.

The first big thing coming up is the "Get Back to Reading" feature that is basically a follow up to the 2+ week long featured authors (of the day) event that just wrapped up on my Facebook page.  There's is such a wide assortment of authors that were featured and all of them are so incredibly awesome - I don't think I could have chosen a better group than what I ended up with. So keep your eyes open for this months "Get Back to Reading" feature it's gonna be a good one!

Stemming from the Facebook event as well, I ended up with a bunch of books by the featured authors to read and review. It's a pretty big stack so it's going to take me a few weeks to get through them all and review but yeah, we've got new reviews coming to the blog over the next month or so.

And while I was meeting and chatting with all these new (and I do mean NEW) authors during the event, I stumbled across a couple that I knew I had to interview. It's going to be fun working with these ladies, scratch that - it's already fun working with these ladies as I get ready for their interviews. The first interview will be coming around the first of October and I can't wait to introduce you to this author. It's a particularly interesting one for me.  After that, as of right now, there will be 2 other interviews through the fall but I'm hoping to get a couple more than that as well... *fingers crossed*

And that's just the work for here on this blog. And that doesn't include the layout and design work, the other/regular book promotions that will be occurring, my own writing (which I blogged about this week - here), or all the other stuff going on in my normal, regular day-to-day chaotic life.

Like I said, busy, busy, busy!

Now, I'm off to harvest some cucumbers and zucchinis from the garden, deliver some pre-made meals to my dad (because my moms out of town and he's busy with harvest) and then I've got my son's very first football game tonight too.

Catch you later!!
