COVER REVEAL: New Blair Babylon Trilogy (Book 1) WORKING STIFF: CASIMIR

WORKING STIFF: CASIMIR
by Blair Babylon
Inheritance Trilogy, #1
Publication date: May 17th 2016
Genres: Adult, Contemporary,
Romance

Synopsis:
Here’s the problem: when Rox was hired, she told her smoking-hot boss Cash that she was married, but she’s not. Now, three years later, she’s kind of accidentally living with him, and he’s being a perfect gentleman, dang it.

Everybody in the office said that Cash was a heartbreaker, that he’d bump her and dump her, so Rox decided not to become a statistic. She went out and bought herself some rings of the finest cubic zirconia so that she could work with Cash, who was several inches over six feet tall, emerald-eyed, ripped, gorgeous, his tailored suit clinging to his athletic body, sporting a British accent, and loaded.

It had seemed like such a good plan at the time.

But now, three years later, she and Cash have become friends. They travel together for work often, and they’re the best of buddies. When Rox gets thrown out of her apartment, Cash insists that she come live with him until they can find her a place because that’s what friends do.

Now, even though everyone insists that Cash never goes after married women, something about him has changed. There are little touches, little slips, and Rox is more and more tempted to tell hunky, gorgeous Cash that she never was married.

And then he’ll take her and break her, and then he’ll walk away, and then she’ll lose her job, and she still hasn’t found a place to live.

And yet, every time her looks at her with mischief in his dark green eyes, every time they’re teasing and it somehow turns into tickling, every time she swats at him and somehow ends up in his arms, she wants so much to risk everything.

What’s a working stiff to do when she falls in love with her friend, the boss?

Announcing the ANOTHER YEAR OF BOOKS CELEBRATION EVENT

That's right, it's time for another Special Event!

I've been thinking of doing a Spring event - just because I could. But it wasn't until I realized that my blogging anniversary had just passed (in March) and that my birthday is coming at the end of the month, that I FINALLY figured out what the event would be. So...

The
ANOTHER YEAR OF BOOKS CELEBRATION EVENT
will take place May 31 - June 2.

The event will celebrate the books, authors and bloggers that are a staple in so many of our lives every day!

Like the Halloween Haunt Event that took place this last October, the bulk of event happenings will be taking place on Facebook. You can join the Facebook event here. There will be giveaways and author/blogger takeover times over the course of the 3 days of the event.

Unlike last autumn's event, the blogs will also become apart of the event as well. Guest blogging opportunities will be available during the days of the event, as well as leading up to the event if there's enough interest. As always on Ups, Downs, Ins & Outs guest blog writers will discuss books, books and books... And maybe some other stuff too. And on Inside My Mind posts will, as usual, talk about writing and publishing, and how that mixes (or doesn't) with everyday lives.

In addition to the giveaways on Facebook during the event, there will also be a GRAND PRIZE GIVEAWAY CONTEST (which will be hosted by Rafflecopter) and will include at the least a $50 Amazon GC provided by Me! This contest will open May 1st and will remain open until June 2nd. Entry details will be shared on May 1st.

Authors and Bloggers - please fill out this form to participate in the event or to donate giveaways prizes.

Featured Books This Week

For some reason the list this week is exceptionally short, with only 4 books listed. I'm not entirely sure how that happened but with a new release (or two) coming out next week that I've been waiting on for months, I can pretty much guarantee that next week's featured list will be quite a bit longer!

As always I hope you'll check out the titles that have been featured. Remember you can always find the complete compilation of Daily Featured Books in the Ups & Downs Shop. It is now up-to-date with all featured titles.

Enjoy and Happy Reading!!

What Are You...

What are you reading?

I ask this every once in a while because I truly am interested. I don’t want to simply tell you all the time what I’m reading, what I think you should read, what I think you may (or may not) like about a book, or even why you should buy it.

Every one likes different things. They read different things, watch different shows. They have different taste in music and food.

Just because I like something, doesn’t mean that you will.

So I ask what you’re reading. Or what you’re listening to. And I ask what TV shows and/or movies you’re watching.

Because I like to sample and try new things.

I like to try and watch new shows, to read new genres (or sub-genres) of books, and discover cool new songs or artists. I may discover that I just can’t get into a new show I try. I may come to decide that a specific genre of book just isn’t to my taste. That new song you love may not be as appealing to me.

But I still ask. I still try. I’m still interested. So really…

What are you reading?

         What are you watching?

                  What are you listening to?

Featured Books in Review

No one is more annoyed than me when I don't get posts up when I'd intended.  I hate not keeping a schedule for the few things that I actually bother to try and schedule. Unfortunately it happens that sometimes life kicks me - not down but back. So I'm a couple days late with last week's review of the daily featured books but if there's one thing I know it's that (as with most things) it's still better to post late than never!

Have a great day. And hopefully happy reading.

MORE THAN MUSIC by Elizabeth Briggs

Classical musician Maddie Taylor secretly dreams of a louder life, but geeky girls like her don't get to be rock stars. That is, until tattooed singer Jared Cross catches her playing guitar and invites her to join his band on The Sound, a reality TV show competition.

Once on the show, Maddie discovers there's more to Jared than his flirty smile and bad boy reputation. With each performance their attraction becomes impossible to ignore, but when the show pressures them to stay single, they're forced to keep their relationship secret.

As the competition heats up, Jared will do whatever it takes for his band to win, and Maddie must decide if following her dream is worth losing her heart.

BOUND BY A DRAGON by Linda K. Hopkins
Book 1 – The Dragon Archives

At twenty-two, Keira Carver needs to find a husband, but the prospects in her small medieval village are not pretty slim. So when Aaron Drake, a handsome stranger, takes up residence at Storbrook Castle, set deep in the surrounding mountains, Keira takes notice. Just as interesting is the fact that a fire-breathing dragon has also moved into the neighborhood, and is rumored to live in caves beneath the mountain fortress. What exactly is the connection between Aaron Drake and the dragon? And when the dragon rescues her from the unwanted attentions of some village boys, who will set out to rescue her from the huge, scaly, fire-breathing monster?

EIGHT HUNDRED GRAPES by Laura Dave

There are secrets you share, and secrets you hide… What if your beloved fiancé, he of the crinkly smile and irresistible British accent, had kept a life-changing secret from you? And what if, just a week before your dream wedding, you discovered it?

Georgia Ford, bride-to-be, hops in her car and drives through the night, from Los Angeles to Sonoma, to her safe haven: her family, and the acclaimed family winery. Georgia craves the company of those who know her best, and whom she truly knows. Better yet, it’s the eve of the last harvest—the best time of the growing season, and Georgia knows she’ll find solace—and distraction—in the familiar rituals. But when Georgia arrives home, nothing is at all familiar. Her parents, her brothers, the family business, are all unrecognizable. It seems her fiancé isn’t the only one who’s been keeping secrets…

Eight Hundred Grapes is a story about the messy realities of family, the strength (and weaknesses) of romantic love, and the importance of finding a place to call home.

THE DUKE AND I by Julia Quinn
Book 1 – Bridgertons Series
This book includes the 2nd Epilogue

Can there be any greater challenge to London's Ambitious Mamas than an unmarried duke?—Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, April 1813

By all accounts, Simon Basset is on the verge of proposing to his best friend's sister—the lovely and almost-on-the-shelf—Daphne Bridgerton. But the two of them know the truth—it's all an elaborate ruse to keep Simon free from marriage-minded society mothers. And as for Daphne, surely she will attract some worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.

But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, it's hard to remember that their courtship is a sham. Maybe it's his devilish smile, certainly it's the way his eyes seem to burn every time he looks at her . . . but somehow Daphne is falling for the dashing duke . . . for real! And now she must do the impossible and convince the handsome rogue that their clever little scheme deserves a slight alteration, and that nothing makes quite as much sense as falling in love.

Saturday’s With Princess

WINTERLING by Sarah Prineas

Jennifer—

Things here have gotten very bad.

My girl, when you opened the Way, something happened. It has been weeks since you left, and spring has still not come. The rains continue, every day. Winter has been creeping back in. The river through town is flooding, and none of the farmers have been able to put in their crops.

I am afraid that something from that world is spilling over into ours.

You must come home at once. I need you here.

But Fer can't go home yet. Ever since she went through the Way, she's felt an attachment to this new world and its magic, and senses that it is perilously out of balance. The key to healing the land and defeating its powerful ruler lies in Fer's past and the parents she never knew. She must discover who she is and unleash her inner warrior before the worlds on both sides of the Way plunge into a never-ending winter.

Chaos. Life... You know.

It's been one of those weekends. Not that I haven't had time to spend with the kids - the girls specifically, as Gamer Boy was away for the weekend. I did have time with them. Heli Dad and I made sure to take time with them.

But between that and all else we had to do?

Yeah, chaos.

And so little time for anything else. So... I'll do the wrap up of this last weeks featured books on Tuesday. It's a pretty short list this time around but the list is a good one. Check it out tomorrow.

Until then - I hope your weekend has been better then the tangle mines been. And if it hasn't... Well I wish you luck untangling.

THE REVIEW

In a wonderful tale that twists from our world to another, Winterling, Sarah Prineas portrays a perfect combination of both.

Fer is trying to figure things out about the strange land she arrived in and Rook is trying to figure her out. The Mor, or the lady she poses as is keeping winter around longer than it should with her cursed blood sacrifices. Fer has to find the mysterious Leaf Woman that she saw in the forest when she first arrived, for only she can bring Spring once again.

After reading this book, AND LOVING IT, I’ll definitely be reading more by Sarah Prineas.

Princess recommends this book to other young readers age 8-13.

YOUR REVIEWER - Princess Z

Princess is an 11-year old ("almost 12") reading fanatic... Just like her Writer Mom. She loves tales of myth and magic, fantasy and the imaginative. Unlike her mother, she's not the greatest fan of writing but she is determined to share her own love of reading with the world. She best loves stories that can make her laugh and cry, and the ones that she can imagine herself a part of.

She is new to the book reviewing gig (publishing her first review for Winterling in April 2016) but looks forward to the job and to sharing the books she loves. And she hopes that you and, or, your children enjoy the stories just as much as she has!
