Say Hello to a New FAOM!

Back when I introduced this Featured Author of the Month thing to you all, I mentioned that part of the idea grew out of the ‘Author of the Day’ Facebook promotion I’d done back in August of 2015. I had a lot of fun doing that daily promotion and meeting tons of indie authors. Fast forward a couple years and there are some of those indies that I’m still in weekly, if not daily, contact with. I’ve read multiple books from many (most?) of them and still follow all of them on social media as best I can to keep up with their work, writing life, and releases.

One of the authors I met during that summer was a new indie author who (at the time) was preparing for the launch and release of her debut novel. She was new to the game and as nervous, scared and excited as I imagine anyone is when their first book baby is about to be shared with the world. In the more than two years since then, she’s gone on to write the second book in her series and is now preparing to release the third book – don’t worry, I’ll be telling you all about the books this month.

Who is it, you ask? Well…

Allow me to introduce or re-introduce to you all
Rebekah Raymond!

By day Rebekah Raymond is simply Becca--Medical Claims Adjudicator, Academic Strategist, wife and mother of two. By night, she is Rebekah Raymond, Calgary writer of thriller/horror, romance, science fiction and fantasy.

Best known for her thriller The Life’s series and her “half-baked truths” (read aloud at the local Open Mic Night), Raymond has a reputation of being overly kind and generous with sharing whatever knowledge and connections she has with other Indies.

Raymond is a proficient writer, working at her writing for hours nightly. She attributes her wildly disconnected plots and vivid characters to automatic and dissociative writing.

She is a member of NaNoWriMo and relies on the support of other excellent writers from the Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society.

Rebekah is one of the authors I remain in pretty consistent contact with and though she doesn’t write romance, her The Life’s series books have always had just the right touch of romance to thoroughly engage me. The thrillers are ones that I’ve devoured happily and have even given to friends and family members as gifts.  I’m truly looking forward to a month of telling you all about Rebekah Raymond and of sharing her books and other works with you.

And I may have come up with a couple new ideas of ways to share all of this with you too?!? Stay tuned… hopefully Rebekah agrees to help me out! LOL!

There's a New Featured Author of the Month...

Here we are everyone at the beginning of December and at the start of another round of the Featured Author of the Month. I had such fun in November and I’m so excited for this month. So let’s get to it… I’d like to introduce to you an author who is new to me, though she has been writing and publishing for over 2 years now.

A.M. Johnson lives in Utah with her family where she moonlights as a nurse on the weekends. If she’s not busy with her three munchkins, you’ll find her buried in a book or behind the keyboard where she explores the human experience through the written word. She’s obsessed with all things Austen and Oreos, and she LOVES to connect with readers!

You can stay up-to-date with Amanda by signing up for her newsletter here.

And you can connect, follow and/or stalk her online at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And you can always find book info on her website.

Find all Featured Author of the Month posts by searching the hashtags #FAOM and #AuthorOfTheMonth on the blog, Facebook, Twitter, G+ and Instagram!!

Stick around and enjoy the fun!

Space, Shifters, Romance and Sales

It’s been a while since I’ve talked about any single book or series. Well, let’s be honest, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a lot of anything. But since life with a new baby in the house is starting to settle down, and since I’m again finding a daily groove, I think it’s well past time to once again begin posting about books. So…

Last year I saw an ad for a sci-fi/fantasy book about space travelling dragon shapeshifters. At the time, I thought “what the heck, let’s give it a try?” and I bought Abducting Abby by S.E. Smith. The story of Abby Tanner and dragonshifter Zoran Reykill, leader of the Valdier, kicks off the Dragon Lords of Valdier series. From there it branches off with the related series: Curizan Warriors, Sarafin Warriors and Marastin Dow, and the Dragonlings of Valdier – a second generation series from the other series I just listed. When I started reading I had no idea what I was getting myself into. However, I was in for a pleasant surprise.

As I followed Abby, Cara, Trisha, Ariel, Carmen and the other women from Earth as they met and fell in love with the various warriors who claim them, I was happily entranced with the stories. For someone like myself who firmly believes that there is life “out there” the imaginative possibilities presented by S.E. Smith was like giving an unlimited supply of candy to a kid. And what’s even better, is that these books are interesting enough that I can re-read them over and over.

But you know what’s really great?

Right now – September 1-3, 2017 – all of Smith’s e-books are on sale for just 99 cents. So right now is a really great time to stock up… and read! Explore the titles of all S.E. Smith's series here.

And you can find even more ways to fan-stalk Smith, in all the good ways I mean, on her website!
