COVER REVEAL: In the Absence of You by Sunniva Dee

IN THE ABSENCE OF YOU
by Sunniva Dee
Publication date: June 28th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Aishe is running.
Running from the burn of a love she knows will consume her.
Running from a soul mate she’s never even met.
If only she hadn’t been hired as a merch girl for the hottest indie band on earth.
If only she’d never laid eyes on its front man, Emil—intense, sexy, and so unlike the men of her culture.
If only she hadn’t fallen onto his lips, then into his bed.
If only her flame hadn’t exploded into a full-on forest fire.
If only Emil’s heart didn’t belong to someone else.

Emil is running. Running from a broken heart.
Running from who he was with her.
If only Zoe hadn’t left.
If only Aishe hadn’t been right there.
If only she hadn’t been so damn gorgeous—insistent—different.
If only he could control himself around her.
If. Only.

AUTHOR BIO:
Between studies, teaching, and advising, Sunniva has spent her entire adult life in a college environment. Most of her novels are new adult romance geared toward smart, passionate readers with a love for eclectic language and engaging their brain as well as their heart while reading.

Born in the Land of the Midnight Sun, the author spent her early twenties making the world her playground. Southern Europe: Spain, Italy, Greece--Argentina: Buenos Aires, in particular. The United States finally kept her interest, and after half a decade in Los Angeles, she now lounges in the beautiful city of Savannah.

Sometimes, Sunniva writes with a paranormal twist (Shattering Halos, Stargazer, and Cat Love). At other times, it's contemporary (Pandora Wild Child, Leon's Way, Adrenaline Crush, Walking Heartbreak, and Dodging Trains, coming in late March 2016).

This author is the happiest when her characters let their emotions run off with them, shaping her stories in ways she never foresaw. She loves bad-boys and good-boys run amok, and like in real life, her goal is to keep the reader on her toes until the end of each story.

The meter is running…

Rose slides in. Gives the driver her address…
But she never reaches her destination.
Instead, she finds herself captive, at the will of a man who isn’t a driver, but a bona fide psychopath.
Trapped in a taxi she can’t escape, Rose begins to panic. As the miles between her and safety grow, hope dwindles. It isn’t until someone else joins her in captivity that her spark of hope is rekindled.
Derek is strong, capable, and surely together they can fight their way to freedom.
Then Rose finds out exactly why she’s been driven into hell. Derek may be an unwilling captive, but he isn’t going to help her.
In fact, he’s there to do the exact opposite.

RELEASE BLITZ - All The Way to Heaven

All the Way to Heaven
Becky Doughty
(The Fallout Series, #1)
Published by: Clean Teen Publishing
Publication date: November 2nd 2015
Genres: New Adult, Romance
Anica Tomlin, business major, has just learned that the man she’s been planning her future around, her Global Finance professor, already has a beautiful wife and family. Ani cashes in her graduation gift to herself a little early—a trip to Tuscany—but from the moment she boards the wrong train in Pisa, her plans for solitude and self-indulgence begin to unravel around her.
When a bicycle accident thrusts Ani into the skilled hands of the dashing Dr. Cosimo Lazzaro, she reluctantly accepts his invitation to recover in his family’s country villa, perched on a hilltop surrounded by the Lazzaro olive groves. But it’s been a black year for olive growers all over Italy, and generations of tradition are being put to the test like never before.
Ani is swept up in the drama of life in Tuscany, the convergence of old and new, and the passions that drive people to pursue the desires of their hearts. Just as Ani begins to get her feet under her again, an unexpected turn of events leaves her doubting the very existence of happily-ever-after, unless she can learn to trust the desires of her own heart.
Although All the Way to Heaven is a stand-alone novel, it is the first book in The Fallout Series, a collection of sweet contemporary romances that follow characters featured in the first book.

EXCERPT:
Seven AM in Lucca, and the quaint medieval town was teeming with life, fueled by a caffeine-and-Mediterranean-air-induced high. Bicycle bells jingle-jangled, and boisterous greetings volleyed from one side of the narrow streets to the other. School children laughed and called out to comrades as they scurried off to class.
“Why is everyone so happy?” I pulled a lumpy pillow over my head, but I could find no entry back into the anesthetizing arms of sleep.
My first morning in this enchanted place, and I felt more like a forgotten princess in a tower than a girl on a much-anticipated trip to Italy.
I hadn’t expected to fall asleep right away, but after a hot shower and a bowl of the packaged soup my mom had slipped into my luggage before they drove me to the airport, fatigue settled its heavy cloak around my shoulders. Crawling between the crisp sheets that smelled of bleach and lavender, I was disquieted by the unfamiliar stillness of a town that collectively slept at night. My world was round-the-clock, where the freeway slowed, but never stopped, businesses stayed open twenty-four hours a day, and people lived in shifts, as though afraid the earth might cease turning on its axis the moment no one was looking. But sleep, I did, like a stone, in spite of the tears that made it impossible to breathe through my nose.
Morning, however, had arrived with a vengeance, the stillness before dawn exploding into a cacophony of sound as unfamiliar to me as last night’s stillness. Cobbled streets bordered by tall, ancient stone buildings made shouts and laughter echo and reverberate, each sound amplified. Everything felt so close, but no one here seemed to mind. Like an orchestra tuning its instruments before a performance, each noise outside the window was finding its perfect pitch in the symphony entitled, “A Day in the Life of Lucca.”

Smirking jackass. Oh, so he thought I would have already fallen at his feet by now like the entire female population that constantly surrounded him.

“Is that what you think? That it bothers me that you haven’t spoken to me before? You’re mighty fond of yourself. Perhaps I should call you King Damon?”

He threw his head back in laughter. I loved the sound.

“You said it, not me, and I don’t hate you. Let’s be real clear on that.”

He looked me up and down as his eyes raked over my body then slowly moved his gaze toward my eyes and smirked at me. There it was — finally. That sexy smirk he threw to all his conquests. Poor thing, didn’t even know who he was messing with. He may have been the hottest guy I had ever seen — and maybe even the most charming — but I had way more self-control than to fall for his shit.

I hoped so anyway, because I was banking on enough control over my own body to not fall at his feet. “But you have to admit King Damon does have a nice ring to it.” I’ll play his game.“Oh my gosh! Damon-freaking-Black has actually spoken to me.” I threw my head back and fake-fanned myself. “I guess from all your lady groupies this is about the time you expect me to run out and go get your name tattooed on my body.”

Damon was sipping on his beer and sprayed some of it down the front of his shirt. He covered his mouth, all the while choking and laughing at the same time. He quickly got himself in check, much faster than I ever could if that had happened to me.

“Wow, feisty,” he murmured as he took his palms and wiped his mouth.

“Something wrong, King Damon?” I batted my eyes at him. Damon leaned into me, and how someone who was just drinking a beer, and had been inside a bar all night smelled delicious, I had no clue, but he sure did.

“Ass… since it’s my name I should get an input on where it goes, don’t you think? I want to see it too,” he whispered seductively. His eyes pierced mine. “Ariel, tell me something. Would that be your first tattoo, or do you have others?”

“You’ll never know, but I’ll tell you one thing…”

“Yeah?” He arched his eyebrows. “What’s that?”

“If I’m ever stupid enough to get a man’s name tattooed on my ass…” I paused just for dramatic purposes, just to make him think as I leaned toward him and whispered, “… I promise it won’t be yours.” The sexy facial expression he was wearing turned into a cold glare as he narrowed his eyes on me. Yup, there it was. That was how I was used to him looking at me. Game point, Ariel!

“Can it be mine, Ariel?” Xavier laughed. I wasn’t even aware we had an audience listening to our conversation. I cut my eyes toward him to tell him to shut up, and, if looks could kill, Xavier would have been on the floor from the look Damon had already thrown his way. I slid off the seat and walked away, but my feet stopped me when I heard his voice.

“Don’t be so sure princess, and by the way, that’s a mighty fine ass, very worthy of my name.”

I turned around to face him but kept walking backward. “You sure do talk a lot.” He smiled. That smile could make a girl weak in the knees.

“We can always do something else.” He winked.

I raised my hand and saluted him the best way I knew how and turned for the door.

But late one night, she sat down at the computer, deciding to see if her characters could come to life on the pages. When she finally took a breath, ten thousand words had poured out of her soul. Those words lead to her first novel “Beautifully Damaged.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“How am I supposed to know when to say I love you?”
She passed him the tomato plant to put on the apartment balcony.  It was the first thing they had ever owned together.
“When to say I love you, or when you know you love someone?”
He reached over to rub the dirt smear off her cheek.  He licked his finger first to make sure he got it all.  She didn’t think twice of it.
“Both.”
She stopped planting for a moment to look out at the industrial view facing her.  Hotels, factories, more apartments.  A couple was having sex against the window across the street.  She didn’t look away as she said it.
“I think you know you love someone when you do things for them when it’s inconvenient for you.  I think you say I love you when they do too.”
-A week before the tomato plant died
The first time he said it, they were assembling an ikea baby crib for his sister’s newborn.  He was kneeling on the ground reading her instructions while she lay partway under the crib, screwdriver in hand to do the hard bits.  She didn’t even hear him the first time. She wore his old painting t-shirt and a pair of Roots sweatpants, and he had just yelled at her a half hour before for spending too much money on Wendy’s.
“I love you.”
She reached her hand out to pat his knee affectionately.  “No, babe, it’s fine, you didn’t shove me at all.”
She had the screwdriver in her mouth so she could use both hands to piece the thing together, making it difficult for him to understand much of what she said either.  He did one of those nervous laughs reserved for 10th graders about to give a presentation on the reproductive organs, but, to his credit, he said it again quite factually and even toned, especially for a man who had only ever previously said “I love you” to his mother and goldfish.
“I love you.”
She dropped the screwdriver.  On her face.
“What did you just say?”  It barely came out as a whisper.
“I love you.”
The first time she said “I love you” was 13 weeks after he did.  He was sleeping, she was propped up on her elbow staring at him, as she had been for the past three hours trying to garner the confidence to spit out the three words.  It was his snore that did it.  He did this thing where he simultaneously exhaled and inhaled, while making a spitting noise which included an elephantine snore.  She started giggling uncontrollably, and didn’t even realize at first when the words popped out.
“I love you.”
It didn’t matter that it would be six more months before she said it to his face, because she said it.  It was out there in the universe.  And she meant it.
- How she chipped her front tooth from a screwdriver
