FAOM: A Little About FINDING FOREVER

The second book in a series makes the reader one of two things: extremely excited because they loved the first book and can’t wait to see what happens next in the authors world, or extremely nervous because they loved the first book and can’t wait to see what happens next in the authors world. There’s a third option I suppose – a little of both. Having truly enjoyed the first book in November’s FAOM Linda Oaks’ series The Chasing I’m actually going to slide myself into that third position and say that I’m both excited and nervous. I’m just diving in to book 2 myself and I’m honestly looking forward to what I’m going to find.

FAOM: An Overview of 'The Chasing' Series

As her bio told us, Linda loves chaotic romances with happily-ever-afters - those stories that draw us in with their many twists and turns, before delivering heart-warming, happy endings. So it shouldn’t be too surprising that the stories she writes are just that sort. So This Happened Yesterday

Yesterday was the final day of Takeovers for the Another Year of Books Celebration Event, we had a guest post on Ups, Downs, Ins & Outs by Ani Gonzalez, and the Tom Fallwell FAST Giveaway of the day was awarded.

I talked about Ani Gonzalez yesterday and gave you all of her stalking info in this post here. And then of course, she came back to do a Guest Blog and delighted all of us with her discussion about the Fox TV show - Lucifer. If you didn't catch that, you can find it here. Needless to say we were happy to have her around and enjoyed hearing from her again.

Before the night wrapped up Tom Fallwell stopped in and spent an hour talking with us about his writing. His books to date have been pretty firmly in the Fantasy genre, but he told us that he's got ideas (and plans) for a sci-fi and for a dective-thriller book in the future. His Rangers of Laerean Series includes A Whisper in the Shadows and Where Shadows Fall (These are the books that we gave away earlier in the evening.) and he's currently working on the 3rd Rangers novel, as well as the Chronicles of Hir - Hir being the world that the Rangers of Laerean Series is set.

Seven AM in Lucca, and the quaint medieval town was teeming with life, fueled by a caffeine-and-Mediterranean-air-induced high. Bicycle bells jingle-jangled, and boisterous greetings volleyed from one side of the narrow streets to the other. School children laughed and called out to comrades as they scurried off to class.
“Why is everyone so happy?” I pulled a lumpy pillow over my head, but I could find no entry back into the anesthetizing arms of sleep.

Crawling between the crisp sheets that smelled of bleach and lavender, I was disquieted by the unfamiliar stillness of a town that collectively slept at night. My world was round-the-clock, where the freeway slowed, but never stopped, businesses stayed open twenty-four hours a day, and people lived in shifts, as though afraid the earth might cease turning on its axis the moment no one was looking. But sleep, I did, like a stone, in spite of the tears that made it impossible to breathe through my nose.
Morning, however, had arrived with a vengeance, the stillness before dawn exploding into a cacophony of sound as unfamiliar to me as last night’s stillness. Cobbled streets bordered by tall, ancient stone buildings made shouts and laughter echo and reverberate, each sound amplified. Everything felt so close, but no one here seemed to mind. It's Almost Time for the HALLOWEEN HAUNT

Just a Quick Note...

I just wanted to take a moment and check in with everybody. I've been notably absent from my blogs during the past week or so, and even my social media presence has been relatively minimal. While I apologize for this absence, it was unfortunately unavoidable.  I've suffered for more than 20 years with back issues and in recent years those issues, while not of very frequent occurrence have become increasing painful and difficult to deal with.

My back did go out early last week and left me nearly completely incapacitated for over a day and with a wide range of muscle and nerve problems in the aftermath. I am still not back to normal capacity and have to limit the amount of time that I'm able to be at my computer each day.

I will continue to do what I can from my phone and iPad, but some aspects that I have to use the computer for my be affected for the interim.

That said...
